Norma Hashim

Norma Binti Hashim, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Governing Council of Yayasan Sime Darby on 2 August 2022.

Norma obtained her Bachelor of Science in Economics (Honours) degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She subsequently trained with KPMG in London and built a career in finance across different industries including property (Island & Peninsular), airline (Malaysia Airlines) and stockbroking (CIMB).

She left her professional career to focus her efforts on non-profit organisations related to supporting the blind, refugees and the less fortunate. She has edited three books on the Palestinian cause and founded a centre for Palestinian studies at Universiti Malaya.

Norma Hashim is treasurer of Viva Palestina Malaysia, an NGO focussed on raising awareness of the conflict in Palestine, and providing relief to Palestinians, mainly in Gaza.
